The infant & toddler program is designed to meet the developmental, physical and emotional needs of children ranging in age from 2 months to 2.9 years old.
There will be one teacher for up to four children and two teachers for five children or more.  The maximum class size for this age group is nine children. Infants & Toddlers, by nature, are very inquisitive and constantly exploring their environment; eager to examine each and every new situation they come into
contact with.  Our classroom is custom designed with these needs in mind.  Each child will be exposed to a wide variety of developmentally appropriate
materials and activities.  This program will prepare young children for preschool both developmentally and socially while providing a low child teacher ratio
allowing the extra care and nurturing these children require.

The Infant & Toddler Classroom
The Toddler classroom is custom designed with the toddlers needs in mind.  The classroom is 400 sq. ft. and divided into “centers” which will be changed
and adapted periodically according to the children’s skill levels, interests, classroom themes etc.

Infant & Toddler Fun & Learning Areas:

  • Circle
  • Block
  • Cognitive Math
  • Book
  • Art
  • Role Play
  • Climbing
  • Science
  • Diaper Changing
  • Outdoor Play
The place where children meet for stories, games, songs and other group activities.
Children will be able to sharpen their fine motor, cognitive and social skills through the use of various types of building blocks.
Puzzles, shape and sorting activities, counting, peg boards etc.
A quiet, soft place where children can sit and flip through books at their own leisure
Here children will be able to color, paint, use play dough, draw etc.  This area will also double as the snack and lunch area.
The materials will change from time to time and will include; dress up, pretend kitchen, tool bench, puppet theater, dolls, etc.
A soft padded indoor climbing area designed to give toddlers the opportunity to jump, climb, crawl etc.
Themed materials for the children to explore for example, if the theme was birds, we might include feathers, pictures/books about birds, a nest, bird seed an egg etc.
A changing table and sink inside the classroom and adjacent to the toddler restroom.
A fenced area including a climbing structure, a sandbox, a play cottage, teeter totter, bikes, balls & hoop, etc.

The Preschool Class will include children ranging in age from 2 years, 9 months through 4 years old.  This program is designed to prepare children for our Pre-Kindergarten class by sharpening the essential social, emotional and academic skills that will be helpful in making a smooth transition into our Pre-Kindergarten program.

Morning Sessions
Tuesdays & Thursdays - 9:00 until 11:30
Mondays, Wednesdays & Fridays - 9:00 until 11:30
Mondays through Fridays - 9:00 until 11:30

Full Day Sessions
The full day sessions are flexible in hours and times.
We want to be able to provide these sessions which accommodate the schedules of working parents.

The Preschool Curriculum
Within this environment, children are encouraged to explore their world through educational centers: literature, mathematics, the arts, science, computer, music, dramatic play, outdoor play, show and tell, individualized instruction, and group time. Themes will be presented to the children which will incorporate letters, shapes, colors, and numbers, with emphasis on strengthening fine and gross motor skills, as well as social skills.  Although it might seem like the children are “just playing”, each activity is specifically chosen to help enhance the following skill areas.

  • Language Skills
  • Cognitive Skills
  • Fine Motor
  • Gross Motor
  • Social Skills
  • Self Help Skills
Reading stories, singing songs, discussing concepts such as before & after, under & over, near & far, tall & short etc., social interactions between other children and the staff, etc.
Puzzles, problem solving activities, games, blocks, sorting by shape, color, size etc., patterns, counting, computers, (these are early math skills).
Play dough, coloring, drawing, writing, blocks, painting, sand play, arts and crafts activities, cutting with scissors, experimenting with textures etc
Climbing, running, practicing stairs, hopping, bike riding, dancing, playing catch, balancing, tossing objects etc.
Playing with other children, turn taking games, sharing, mastering separation from parents, using language to achieve goals (as opposed to pointing, yelling, crying or hitting), social problem solving.  Social development is one of the most important areas of development at this stage.  Children need to be taught the skills that are required in order to work out differences amongst one another with support and guidance from the staff when needed.  They need to be taught how to express feelings of frustration, anger and disappointment without losing self control.  These skills can be carried throughout life!
Feeding with utensils, dressing and undressing, hand washing, manners, tying shoes, etc.

This class is designed to challenge and prepare those children who are over  4 1/2 years old for Kindergarten.  Because public Kindergarten in most local towns is 5 full days per week, we strive to prepare children for that type of schedule not only academically, but emotionally as well.  Typically, children who have been exposed to an extended day preschool program transition into a full day Kindergarten program with ease and confidence.

If your child has one academic year before being eligible for Kindergarten you should consider the benefits of enrolling your child in a full day preschool program which meets 2-3 times each week.

A World of Difference

This summer we will be exploring the similarities
and differences between life in America compared
to what life is like for children in other countries
around the world. We are hoping to connect with
other youth groups and find “pen-pals” from all
over the world. We will be looking at the
similarities and differences between:
o Weather & Climate
o Foods
o Schooling
o Games and Activities
o Holidays & Traditions
o Clothing & Fashion
o Pop Music
